After leaving the cold of the mountains we headed to the sake brewing town of Takayama to warm us up. Beautiful olf merchants houses and brewerys have been preserved in the centre. And after the joy of nearly camping, we stayed in a temple called 'Hida Takayama Temple Inn Zenko Ji'!!
Run by a nice old monk and some random Yank called Woody, who we woke up at 3 in the afternoon, and who promptly went back to bed we think. Anyway, we discovered amongst other things, that paper walls are good heat retainers, but bad sound insulators!
We also discovered that Buddha looks badly on people who don't contribute enough to the internet pot and we'll all come back as rats if we don't pay 100 yen for 30 minutes.
