Train to Tibet saw our 10 000 mile marker, and was another 48 hours - they opened the Western style toilet half way...
Over the Tibetan Plateau to Lhasa, was like being back in Mongolia, and a world away from Beijing (which was nice).
Climbed up to Lhanzhou - the world's most polluted city on the yellow river, and the scenery consisted of vertical allotments and mountains, with people looking less Chinese, and more Muslim. Then on up to Jining, up to 5000m before dropping down to Lhasa, tortured by the Chinese music, overlaid by the endless sound of hawking and spitting the whole way.
By the morning we were on the Tibetan Plateau, waking up to snow, wild donkeys, gazelli and herds of Yak - we even saw another Murmelli.
Tom met a Yak researcher...more on Yaks to come.
