Immediately she launched into a tirade about how we were evil bigots. We had apparently been saying that a. she did not have children (she’d told us she had 3) and b. she used to be a man. When we denied it, we were called liars. We’d been saying it on the first night as well. Which was odd because she seemed to quite like us on Day 2. She then accused the German of discussing these issues with me in the middle of the night. When he denied it she apologized, must have been mistaken….then she continued to accuse me and Sarah of all sorts of crap.
This didn’t make for a fun day really. We got the impression people didn’t really believe us in the morning, or just thought we should apologise anyway to calm her down. In the afternoon, she got in the car, and just shouted towards me and Sarah that she didn’t want snide comments, no sarcasm or nastiness, she’d had it all her life and it wasn’t fair.
We were told to just shut up. We all just said we wanted to see the animals, especially a male lion. When Sarah said ‘yeah, A male lion’, that was it. There was effing and blinding and she stormed out the car again.
