We finish our strictly timed visit off with the baby again playing just feet in front of us. Tumbling out of trees and rolling around. When it strays too close, the mother edges forward.

They are the most incredible animals. Feet and hands could be human. Noses so distinct they act as a gorilla fingerprint. Enormous beings that are so gentle with their babies.

And all this is done within a few hundred yards of the nearest house and farmyard. Such is the destruction of their habitat. You can see people wandering around the fields in the background!
