This trek is getting serious now. We walk through the sun up the valley of Labouche Khoja, then struggle up the moraine mountain that marks the bottom of the Khumbu Glacier…a huge conveyor belt that is slowly depositing Everest at the bottom of the valley.
We walk over the Thokla Pass at 4’800m and head for Lobouche. It’s a cold night and the altitude ensures little sleep. We have two days now to get ourselves up to Base Camp and back out again.
