Day Nine

The big day. At 5am we head into the darkness to climb 500m to the top of Kalapattah. I’ve never moved so slow. The sun rises and hits Ama Dablam. Slowly, the mountains are revealed around us. We’re in the middle of a massive bowl of mountains.

Suddenly, right above our heads, the sun hits a tip of snow on the top of Pumori. It appears out of the dark sky, hovering at 7’165m. It’s the most breathtaking moment of the whole trip…

As we reach the top of Kalapattah, broken, the sun climbs over Everest to reveal the true scale of what we’ve done.
