Volcano

The excitement at seeing our first real mountains in months led to Tom leaping about like a lunatic in Aso San on the Island of Kyushu. The area sits in the caldera of an ancient volcano, with 5 smaller live peaks in the centre.
Glacial lakes, meadows, steaming vents and moon like lava fields make up an area which may have the weather of the Lake District, but when you've been in SE Asia ffor 5 months, quite frankly 20 degrees and drizzly is fine by us.
We still got sun burnt anyway!
