The next day we head to the boat for Zanzibar. It’s hassley and a bit unpleasant. We get ripped off for the first time in months. The people here may be nice, but there’s a lot of lying and deceiving. 3 hrs later though and we’re on a blissful stretch of beach. Under searing heat. With a beer in hand.

What no one has told us though is that Zanzibar is cut off. The entire island has no electricity. Fine during the day. Hell at night. Cold showers 3 or 4 times a night are necessary. You wake up every hour or so sweating like a pig. It’s no longer pleasant and we haven’t slept in 4 nights. It could take a month, or two to put back on. It happened last year, and the year before as well apparently but no-one’s really done anything about it.
