Amidst all this, people come to bathe, and offer Puja (prayers) to their Hindu gods…

Tourists mingle with Sadhus, candle offerings float off down stream, hospital scrubs are washed and beaten dry against the steps. It’s not a place for the faint hearted. Nor is it as difficult to take in as people say. It’s just chaotic and colourful. And very different. But sitting along the banks and watching the parade of people go by, the sun hitting the sandstone walls of the great houses that line the banks. A very nice place to be when not ill.
