The songtheaw (like a big tuk tuk) down to 4000 Islands was one of the best local journeys.

Every time we slowed or stopped, 20 odd women would come running at us armed with anything from bbq chickens to deep fried balls of something. At one point 15 women brandishing turnips were running down the road after us!

The old women chewed tobacco throughout the whole journey until we were droppped 1 mile from a village where we found the boat to the 4000 islands. 1 mile in 35 degree heat with all our bags is not pleasant.
