The Burma Bounce

Well eventually we had to get back on a boat. After the horrendous trip to Kho Tao in which more vomit was produced than on a local Chinese bus, the trip back to the mainland was somewhat of an anticlimax. Indeed eyes were opened and we managed to move about for some of the 2 hours this time.

The aim of the day was a daytrip to Myanmar or 'the Burma Bounce' visa run as it is apparently known. You are basically taken out into an estuary separating Thailand and Myanmar to fill in some forms and get another 15 days added to your tourist visa. You don't learn much about the local culture in a plush hotel/ casino, but the duty free shop had REAL cadburys chocolate and believe us it was worth every penny!

So now we're in Rangon, just 200km from our rendezvous with the Perry's for Christmas. They are recovering from jetlag no doubt in Bangkok at this very moment which feels quite strange. But very exciting. And we have nearly completed the first leg of our journey - the only real aim was to get to Khao Lak by the 23rd. So just a 3-6 hours (depending on you ask) bus ride separates us.
