Ok well we're still in Ulaan Baatar, it's pretty dirty, really hectic, the traffic is manic and we've moved hostels 3 times...preparing for the nomadic experience to come. Tomorrow we head to a national park to see horses and rutting stags, then 3 or 4 days trekking with nomadic herders, putting up our ger (Mongolian tent) each night and then packing up the ox again in the morning.

Will see how it goes and book some more trips when we return on the 2nd. We have camel and horses to ride so there's no guarentee Tom will return as he loses control of whatever beast he has chosen.

I can recommend racing your camels against each other.

Shout 'Tuk! Tuk!' into the camel's ear, give its belly a slight hammer with your heels, and hold on to the front hump very tightly. Pull back on the reins to stop. Be aware that all the other camels are likely to follow if its the alpha male who starts running!

Short video of us in action here (note wobbly camelcam!):

You have an ox?

In my mind you're living in a landscape akin to where Luke Skywalker grew up.
